APWA is a nonprofit, non-political, secular organization. It was founded in 2003 by concerned American Palestinian women in the Washington, D.C Metropolitan Area (DC, VA, MD).
OUR EXECUTIVE BOARD
Nuha Shiblie, APWA's President and Board Member. Nuha has been advocating for vulnerable communities since 2005. Throughout her career, she has been addressing emerging needs in IT, academia, healthcare, global aid and nonprofit sectors with a strong international focus. She worked for notable organizations, including 15 years with SAIC, three years with Johns Hopkins, five years working for Georgetown University, and four years working as a consultant in Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Labor and Social Development. Nuha continues to lead diverse discussions with advocacy groups in the US and abroad and is currently serving on the Board of Advisors for the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (CASD) at Children's National Hospital in DC

Mona Sadeq, APWA's Executive Director and Board Member. She got her B.A. from Lebanese American University (LAU) and her MPA from George Mason University. Mona has extensive experience working for private and public sectors in finance and accounting. She has been actively involved and supportive of many non profit organizations like ADC women’s initiative group, Muslim Women’s Association ( MWA), National Organization for Women (NOW) and currently a Virginia Team Leader for the Arab American Foundation. In 2015, Mona along with some women co-founded National Arab American Women’s Association (NAAWA), in addition to being on NAAWA's Board of Directors where she served as a Treasurer and Program Chair (2015-2018). She was elected as NAAWA's President (2018-2020). Also, Mona is currently a Managing Director for Alpha Financial Services.

Nada El-Eryan, is APWA's Secretary and Board Member. As a Palestinian-American, Nada is passionate about Palestinian rights and justice for all, and has dedicated her career to social justice. Nada has a B.A. from Virginia Tech in Political Science, and has worked for nonprofit organizations for over 17 years, including Kaboom and UNRWA USA. Nada is currently Managing Director for Eyewitness Palestine, an organization that develops political education delegations to Palestine/Israel. She excels in the creation and implementation of programming that supports community vitality, project and grants management, and strategic planning. Nada currently serves on the boards for the DC Palestinian Film & Arts Festival and ProInspire, and previously served on the boards for the ADC DC Area Chapter and NAAP-DC.
